Match Preview: Wigan Athletic vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership when they take on Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

Wigan will also be looking to build upon a run of form that has seen them halt the winning streak of Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool who had defeated Chelsea the previous weeks.

Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce has a hamstring problem and will be assessed before the game, Callum McManaman is doubtful with a deep cut to his leg.

On-loan Tom Cleverley is ineligible against his parent club.

Ryan Giggs is available for Manchester United after missing the Marseille draw, and Michael Owen returns to the squad after a groin injury.

But Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Park Ji-Sung and Anderson are still not ready to play.

Doubtful: Boyce (hamstring), McManaman (cut leg)

Injured/unavailable: Cleverley (ineligible)

Man Utd

Injured: Anderson (knee), Evans & Valencia (both ankle), Ferdinand (calf), Hargreaves & Park (both hamstring)

FINAL PREDICTION: Manchester United 4-1 Wigan
